A fan of HBO Max’s Peacemaker makes his own Peace Train cocktail and drinks it in a viral video, which was shared by James Gunn himself. Gunn’s latest series follows John Cena’s Christopher Smith/Peacemaker after the events of last summer’s The Suicide Squad. This time around, Amanda Waller’s A.R.G.U.S. needs Peacemaker help to “save the f—-ing world” from an alien invasion ala Operation: Butterfly. In addition to Cena, the spin-off’s cast includes Jennifer Holland, Emilia Holland, Danielle Brooks, Robert Patrick, Freddie Stoma, Nhut Le, and Chukwudi Iwuji.

In episode 5, “Monkey Dory,” ARGUS attacks a hub for the Butterflies’ food supply. Following the bloody encounter, which involved Charlie the Gorilla, Leota Adebayo (Brooks) and Peacemaker go back to the latter patriotic trailer for a celebratory beverage. Naturally, Cena’s character makes himself a custom “Peace Train” cocktail: gin, sweet vermouth, white vinegar, maple syrup, pepper, and butter—which Adebayo describes as “a feces drink,” and even Peacemaker struggles to gulp it down. Clearly, the quasi villain doesn’t necessarily remember the night he came up with that recipe.

James Gunn recently shared a video of daring Peacemaker fan and Norwegian native, Scott Drangshol, who recreated Peacemaker’s cocktail from episode 5. Drangshol begins his video by mixing the aforementioned ingredients before smelling the cocktail, saying it “smells delicious,” and taking two gulps. At first, he gave the drink a thumbs up, claiming “This is not my favorite cocktail, but I like it.” After Drangshol’s third sip, he gags and curses in Norwegian. Check it out below:

The traditional Peace Train recipe is made from gin, yellow Chartreuse, and sweet vermouth. In the above post, Gunn went on to explain while writing episode 5, he made up a recipe he thought Peacemaker and Vigilante might have made up “drunk at 4 am” after daring each other to come up with disgusting drinks. After creating the Peace Train, the two far-from-sober superpeople became convinced they’d invented a classic.

It’s worth mentioning that Gunn does not drink and has been very open about his history of addiction. When a follower asked him if he would try the Peace Train cocktail during a future viewing party—which he and his cast(s) regularly do—Gunn replied “I don’t drink alcohol – and have never been happier…than I am right now.” If there’s one thing Peacemaker’s increasingly wild episodes prove, it’s that you don’t have to consume a bunch of Peace Trains to have a good time watching the show. Episode 6, “Murn After Reading,” recently dropped on HBO Max, and new episodes are available on Thursdays.
