Following events of The Book of Boba Fett episode 5, Luke Skywalker is rumored to appear in an upcoming episode of the Star Wars show.
Following The Book of Boba Fett‘s episode 5, “The Return of the Mandalorian”, Luke Skywalker is rumored to appear in an upcoming episode of the series. Episode 4 of The Book of Boba Fett ended with a musical cue familiar to fans of Disney+’s The Mandalorian. While many assumed Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) would appear in episode 5—which was directed by The Mandalorian vet Bryce Dallas Howard—very few expected its entire runtime would focus on catching up with the character.
The last audiences saw of Din Djarin at the end of The Mandalorian season 2, he defeated Moff Gideon, laid claim to the Darksaber, and sent Grogu off with Luke Skywalker to learn the ways of the Force. Chapter 5 of The Book of Boba Fett picks up with Din sometime after the events of season 2; collecting a bounty, finding the remaining members of Mandalorian tribe, forging armor for Grogu, and wielding the Darksaber before heading to Tatooine to acquire an N-1 starfighter from Peli Motto. At the end of the episode, Fennec Shand shows up to recruit Din Djarin into Fett’s battle with the Pyke Syndicate. Din agrees to help but not before visiting a little friend first.
According to Cinelinx, Luke Skywalker could appear alongside Grogu in The Book of Boba Fett. The outlet first reported Din would make a cameo in Boba Fett last April—a scoop that has since been confirmed in the latest episode. Cinelinx also learned that Grogu and Luke, who the former is with, would be appearing in the series, but chose not to report it and risk spoiling the story development. Given the events seen in The Book of Boba Fett episode 5, however, the outlet is now reporting that an appearance from Luke Skywalker will happen in an upcoming episode.
This report is far from verified and, while it makes sense to include some familiar faces from The Mandalorian, characters as monumental as Grogu and CGI Mark Hamill seems like a stretch. “The Return of the Mandalorian” is already universally praised as The Book of Boba Fett’s best episode despite the absence of its titular character. Including Grogu and Luke in the series would overshadow Boba even more, while also rushing the narrative beats best left for The Mandalorian season 3.
Until the rumor in question is confirmed, it’s best to proceed with a fair amount of trepidation. Given what is known about Luke’s time after Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, he presumably took Grogu to his secret Jedi Temple (location unknown)—which is ultimately destroyed by Ben Solo. With only two episodes left in The Book of Boba Fett, it seems more likely Din will visit Grogu off-screen and then return to help Boba with the Pykes in the season finale. Then again, the rumor of Din appearing in The Book of Boba turned out to be true, so Cinelinx’s source might be correct about Luke. With only two more episodes to go, it’ll seen sooner than later whether or not Luke Skywalker does make a return in The Book of Boba Fett.
